Insuring against costly medical and accident expenses incurred overseas is a good thing, but the main reason why I purchase AIG Assist travel insurance is a practical one – to cover visit/s to the doctor within 7 days of the date of return to Singapore.
Due to changes in weather and food consumed, it’s not uncommon to return from overseas with a cold, flu or diarrhoea, especially for the young and elderly. Since the chances of seeing a doctor after an overseas trip are high, it is cost effective for me to get an easy-to-claim travel insurance that cover this expense.
So far, I’ve managed to stretch my dollar with AIG Assist travel insurance, as all my medical claims (which were hassle-free and always successful) have exceeded the premiums that I have paid for. Hopefully, the following information that I have compiled will guide you to achieve similar results.
How Does It Work?
For sickness which you had sustained whilst overseas (but did not seek medical treatment there), you may seek treatment in Singapore within one week of return to Singapore. You have a maximum of 30 days to continue treatment in Singapore or the limit specified in Section 2 of the Selected Plan, whichever occurs first.
