Update Twitter via SMS for Free in Singapore – sgBeat and SMSYO
Basically sending updates via global SMS to Twitter using the official +44 (UK) number will cost you a fair bit in Singapore. Fortunately, there are 3rd-party services such as sgBeat and SMSYO that allow you to update your Twitter via local SMS for free.
I’ve used a StarHub prepaid card to test out these 2 services and confirmed that they are working correctly, and truly free from any extra charges (standard local SMS charges apply).
Details on sgBeat and SMSYO
For both services, updates via SMS are almost instantaneous. However, I prefer sgBeat because of its less intrusive tweet. You can see from the screen captures below that SMSYO inserts its URL to your tweet while sgBeat doesn’t. Furthermore, sgBeat offers two numbers for you to update your twitter via SMS.
