Istana Open House on 1 May 2009
The Istana grounds will be open to the public on 1st May 2009 (Friday) from 8.30am to 6.00pm, in celebration of Labour Day. Entry is free for Singaporeans and Singapore permanent residents. Others visitors will just need to pay an entrance fee of S$1 (per person) only. Visitors will be entertained by the following performances at the Open House:
- Performance by Bands from Clementi Primary School, Fuchun Primary School and Princess Elizabeth Primary School
- Bhangra Dance Performance
- Drum Performance by Asia Ability Training Pte Ltd.
Other Activities at Istana Open House
For S$2, visitors will be able to tour selected function rooms in the Istana building to look at gifts given to the President and the Prime Minister by foreign dignitaries.
Istana souvenirs will be on sale during the Open House. Money collected from the sale of souvenirs and entrance fees will be donated to the Community Chest.
About the Istana
The Istana, which sits on over 40 hectares of land along Orchard Road, is the official residence of the President of the Republic of Singapore.
Note: Entrance to the Istana grounds is via the main gate at Orchard Road.
