How to Enjoy Free DVD Rental in Singapore?

If you are planning to catch up on older movie titles such as Blood Diamond and Bourne Ultimatum through paid DVD rental, THINK TWICE. Why? Because you can watch these movies for free in Singapore. Find out how and start enjoying them today!

Since last November, PLAY! has been offering free movie DVD rental on all its 10 fully automated kiosks island-wide. However, its promise of “No gimmicks, no deposit, no hidden cost” sounds too good to be true and kept many from trying.

After personally registering, renting & returning 2 DVDs over the past two days, I can safely conclude that promise is held true. However, I suppose beggars can’t be choosers, so expect free DVD rental for movie titles in 2006-2007 only and it stays free for 24hrs.

Below is how I went about renting the DVDs for free in Singapore:

1. For a start, visit any PLAY! kiosk (locate a PLAY! kiosk here).

2. Next, register your membership for free and instantly at the kiosk. The following registration process will take about 5 minutes.

  • Register using the touchscreen
  • Follow instructions on screen
  • Scan IC front & back & capture thumbprint

(Note: PLAY! kiosk requires Singapore Pink/Blue IC for registration. Non Singapore IC holders may register at their office or Orchard Cineleisure E2MAX.)

3. Once you are registered, log in with your 8 digit ID, scan your thumb and go through the following steps:

  • Select “Rent”
  • Select “FREE DVD Rental”
  • Select either “New Titles” or “All Titles”
  • Move to the movie that you will like to rent and select “Select/Price”
  • Select “Rent” and wait for your DVD to be dispensed

That’s it! Go enjoy your free DVD rental in Singapore today!
